hi friends, lovers + people probably related to me —
61 — all my library holds were ready at once so now i have approximately seventeen* books on my bedside table
*more like seven, but i digress
loaf (of garlic bread) is all you need
so i went through a long ass period where i wouldn’t eat both garlic bread + pasta (disordered eating is really fun guys1). but thankfully for the most part i don’t care anymore — maybe it’s “growth” or exhaustion or maybe it’s maybelline. if i want to eat both i do, if i don’t then i don’t, which is honestly something really great that happened @ 27. seriousness aside, this is a bomb ass recipe for garlic bread that goes great with sunday dinner, family meal, tuesday night — i could keep going. last time i made it as a dipper for tomato soup, the time before to pair with stuffed shells, crispy lemon chicken + an arugula salad, thinking next i’ll do it for steak sandwiches, that have lots of crispy peppers, onions + melty fontina.
INGREDIENTS for the GARLIC BREAD
good bread (a nice loaf of italian, french baguette, ciabatta, etc.)
1 stick of salted butter, if not more - this is not the place to skimp
a splash of olive oil
italian seasoning
5-6 cloves of garlic, chopped
flaky salt (optional)
finely grated parm (optional)
steps
1st in a small saucepan melt down a stick or more of salted butter & add a little splash of olive oil. then finely chop some garlic like 5-6 cloves, add to the butter with a hefty shake or pinch of italian seasoning let warm through. you can also add some finely grated parm now too if you want
2nd slice the bread lengthwise + dimple it a little, maybe pull out some chunks here or there and taste the herby garlic butter. place the bread on a big piece of tinfoil and then spoon the garlic butter mixture all over the bread. make sure to get all the nooks + crannies. press the bread together + wrap in the tinfoil. let it hang out for a bit, do some of your silly little tasks. once the rest of your dinner is close to being done or if garlic bread is your dinner then have the bread in the oven @ 375 all wrapped up in its tinfoil jacket. let it warm a little bit and then put in the oven to broil - stay close since this will only take a couple minutes
3rd pull the bread out + let cool for a minute before sprinkling with flaky salt + slicing into pieces. eat one piece at time until the whole loaf is gone
