hi friends, lovers & people probably related to me —
110 — 20 miles in the rain really makes you feel incredible & also exhausted
tomato girl summer continued
so while i was waiting for a table @ lula — i popped over to the farmers mkt and found some beautiful mini heirlooms. originally i was going to make a super fresh vodka(ish) pasta but like i’ve been there and done that before and it’s delicious. so we had to branch out a little, do something new. even though i’m a comfort watcher when it comes to tv shows & movies most of the time.
ingredients
lil heirloom tomatoes
shallots
garlic
olive oil
butter
white wine (i keep a lil jug full of the dredges of white wine just incase of emergencies)
calabrian chili
red pepper flakes
salt & pepper
shrimps (frozen peeled deveined)
basil
parm
lemon
good bread
steps
1st start defrosting about half a bag of shrimps in the sink, i went with some bigger guys, then put half a stick of butter in large skillet and drizzle a generous amount of olive oil as well, once it melts together — add a shit ton of finely chopped garlic, and 2 finely chopped shallots, let it cook down a bit and add the calabrian chilis (i did a solid spoonful), salt, pepper & a pinch of red pepper flakes, cook until full melded — add a large splash of white wine, once it reduces, add the lil heirlooms, with a bit more salt & pepper. taste — be like oh my god why is this so freaking good, be like do i really need to add the shrimp? controversial opinion is no, no you don’t it’s that freaking good but if you already bought the shrimp. well okay fine.
2nd okay so the tomatoes have broken down a bit and are nice, jammy, the sauce wonderfully spicy and garlicky, add the shrimps & cook till finished (they should turn from light gray(ish) blue to a nice pink color). once done —tear up your basil, add along with the juice of half a lemon. let meld & warm your good bread any way you like (i fried some of mine in a pan).
3rd spoon into a shallow bowl and tuck your good bread in with a light shower of parm & a lil extra squeeze of lemon. eat it until there’s so little left it’s really not worth saving
particularly good things i consumed recently
i found a different pair of loafers that were both tortoiseshell & platform & on sale so i bought them!
bagels & donuts @ work this week — the mktg team is the best team, branched out from our usual gotham for ones from schneider deli which were delightfully squishy, donuts were do-rite, ofc.
watching true lives for the 1st time — an incredible movie, 10/10 no notes
a lil girls weekend in gr — we got biscuits @ tupelo honey, we watched sweet home alabama in the hotel, we went on a short walk on a long pier, we saw some cool art, we got tacos, we got incredible soft serve — thank youuuu bridge!
currently consuming
the lula cafe cookbook that i’m reading like a novel
as always,
